A few of my favorite things...
There's a lot about wine on the Internet. If you're interested in what I have found useful, it's here on this page.
During a period when I spent a lot of time in my car, I got introduced to podcasts as a way to learn. So below are some of my favorites about wine.
Finally, you will find information about my local (Los Angeles area) choices for purchases and tastings.
On the Web
Terroirist: A Daily Wine Blog
Every weekday this site offers a dozen links to all sorts of wine writing on the web. Interviews and focussed tasting notes are shared on weekends.
Podcasts
Wine for Normal People
Elizabeth Schneider can sound opinionated - but she has a heart of gold! After a career at a "big, hulking winery," she shares her vast store of knowledge and what she says will make you think. Episodes focus on single topics with occasional interviews.
I'll Drink to That
For listeners seeking a "deep dive," this interview-driven show is the best. Levi Dalton is amazing for his interviewing skill as well as connections to interesting people in the wine world.
The Winemakers podcast
This is a more-or-less stream of consciousness conversation between Sonoma wine folks Brian Casey, Sam Coturri, Bart Hansen and host John Myers. I have learned so much about the actual work of making wine from listening to these folks! Several are active winemakers and all are long-time (life-time!) members of the Sonoma wine scene. Fun to listen - but don’t be in a hurry!
